Thank you both for your help. Still no joy with thomas. I suppose if I sent for marriage cert, that would give me where he was born? I guess records have been lost in London , maybe during the war. He died young didn't he, He was 3x great grandfather, and my grandfather was also in his 30's when he died |

Thank you Christina I will look into these..How do I look at Parish records? I am puzzled at not finding Thomas, as he could obviously read and write. Does it say what his occupation was? Unfortunately Foster is a common name, and they all seem to keep using the same first names as well! Chigwell could be the right area, so at least that a start |
