I don't know if this helps or not but I am the person who helped the channel 4 tv programme you were talking about because I have been researching the Loseby family of clockmakers.
Edward Loseby (b-1785 d-1867) married Elisabeth (b-1786 d-1866) and they had 5 children. In order Edward Thomas Loseby (b-1817 d-1890), William John Loseby (b-1821 d-1841), Amos Loseby (b-1821 d-1880), Henry Edgar Loseby (b-1822 d-1876), and Mary Julia (b-1834 d-1834 aged 2 days)
This whole generation died without having any children unless they were illegitimate.

Thank you. I think he's a distance cousin somewhere but that wouldn't be easy to find so unless I come across it by accident I think I'll just leave it for now. I really appreciate the other information you've been able to find for me though. Thank you all.

Laura's not looking for a link between the Loseby's and the Pedges, Malyon.

She's looking for a link between the family of Tate Loseby (Florence's father) and the family of Edward T Loseby.

Which, sadly, we haven't been able to find.

I wonder if this is Richard's parents' marriage?

Richard Loseby
mentioned in the record of Richard Loseby and Sarah Ward
Name Richard Loseby
Spouse's Name Sarah Ward
Event Date 10 Aug 1775
Event Place Billesdon, Leicester, England

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 1 Jul 2016 13:23

If there is any connection between the families, it must be very far back. There's no matching of places of birth .

Edward T's father Edward was born in Coventry, Warwickshre, per 1861 census.

Probably his baptism:

Edward Loseby
in the Warwickshire, England, Church of England Baptisms, Marriages, and Burials, 1535-1812

Name: Edward Loseby
Baptism Date: 23 Feb 1785
Baptism Place: Baginton, Warwickshire, England
Father: Thomas Loseby
Mother: Mary Loseby

And his marriage:

Thomas Gimpson Loasby
England, Warwickshire Parish Registers
Name Thomas Gimpson Loasby
Event Type Marriage
Event Date 14 Oct 1776
Event Place Holy Trinity, Coventry, Warwickshire, England
Gender Male
Spouse's Name Mary Daniel

His middle name makes me wonder if Arthur James Gimson, who was one of the executors of Edward T's Will might be a relative of some sort.

Tate Loseby's father Joseph, however, was born in Seagrave, Leics., and his father Richard in Billesdon, Leics.

(apologies there AG, was doing a 'quick job' of things earlier!)

Seems 'big' Edward, had Edward T, Henry Edgar and Amos, as 1861 posted, Father Edward occ. Watchmaker/Silversmith)

What makes you think Amos is an unusual name??

It was a biblical name that was very commonly used in many parts of England in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Thanks for your messages. Yes I saw that on the programme and it sparked me off to look into it. My mum told me that a Loseby in our family was a clockmaker and the name rang a bell with her, although we have no further information. Tate Loseby is my great great grandfather. I think that Edward had a brother called Amos too which may or may not help as it is an unusual name. There are so many Losebys that I'm struggling to find a link. Is there any other information which would help
