Hello Lesley- thanks for your reply.
It's easier if you reply at the bottom of your thread, that way more people see and will be able to help. I'm just going to copy your message on the thread. Seems like you have your hands full with the Grandchildren! I am not related to your family- we all just like solving mysteries and enjoy genealogy. I don't have much time today, but will have another look at your family when I get time- but please, take time to look at the information that has already been included above.
Lesley Reply:
"Hi Austin q. Thank you for your reply. I am sorry that I did not reply earlier but I have been looking after 2 grandchildren. The name and date of birth is right. I have been searching for the Egleton family for a while but not having much success. My dad Ronald Frederick Egleton born 10 March 1926, does not seem to remember much any further back than his father. He did mention Frederick Martin who he thinks died young. He has told me about Walter Lawrence egleton, his dad Henry martin and his two brothers and mum spent a bit of time in a workhouse. The children were in Hanwell school when Charlie Chaplin was there. Henry martin married my nan Florence nee Doran. If you could give me any further information about the Egleton family I would be very grateful.
Regards. Lesley webb nee Egleton. Please can I have access to your family tree . You can have access to my family tree."

I see you have opened the message I sent with seaman's card for Frederick Martin Egleton.
A reply would help- it's always easier when people respond- it at least tells us we're on the right track and that you're interested. Of course, you maybe busy- ( I don't mean to offend, just to say I hope we get some feedback soon )
You can add any comments or further information in the box below 'Add your reply'
Regards, Austin

Harry's DOB on the Workhouse admission register in 1905 was given as 1st July 1896.
From that DOB this record comes up on the 1939 register:
Egleton Household (3 People) 488 Baring Road , Lewisham, London, England
Henry Egleton 01 Jul 1896 Male Armature Winder (Elec) Heavy Work ? Married 2 more people who are officially closed Harry Egleton 14 Jul 1919 Male Blacksmiths & Hammerer Heavy Work Single 2 more people who are officially closed Florence Egleton 25 Apr 1898 Female Household Duties Married 2 more people who are officially closed
I suspect your Father Ronald is one of the closed records. --------------------------------------------------
Harry Martin Egleton married Florence Doran- the marriage has been transcribed badly from the indexes- this is what FreeBMD have, although the original definitely says Harry/ Henry M:
Marriages Dec 1918
DORAN Florence Eglston Greenwich 1d 1943 EGL* Henry F Doran Greenwich 1d 1943 ------------------------------------------------
Your Grandad died in 1961 at the same address he was at in 1939:
England & Wales, National Probate Calendar
EGLETON Harry otherwise Henry of 488 Barring Road, London S E 12 died 29 January 1961 Administration London 19 May to Florence Egleton widow. Effects £275 16s

I am trying to find my great grandfather Harry Egleton born 1896. He had 3 children by Emily Eagleton from Winslow, Bucks born 1874. The children were Walter Lawrence born 1894, Frederick M Born 1901, and Harry M born 1897 who was also my grandfather. Harry was a restaurant cook in Camberwell, Surrey who I believe was also in the merchant navy. Emily, Walter, Frederick and Harry were in and out of the Southwark work house several times. My dad is Ronald Frederick Egleton born 1926 in London. I would appreciate any information available about my fathers family.
Regards. Lesley Webb nee Egleton
