I'm pretty sure it refers to the correction. I would ask the GRO or the local registrar who now holds the original registration about it. |

I don't know for sure, but it's likely to be related to the gender, possibly a reference number used to specify the kind of correction being made - it won't have anything to do with other children, that's pretty certain. |

Hi guys sorry f this is in the wrong place but has anyone come across a similar situation? My uncle died as a baby and on his death cert it has the number 4 over son - daughter was originally crossed out and replaced with son - I'm wondering if the number was just a doodle or a note that this was the fourth son as there's no records of any before hm and his mom was only twenty at the time, best. |
