I would really appreciate some views on this as I am not sure I have got all the right records. Warning, long message!!
Birth: Mary Ellen Bury born 1907 Carlton, Victoria. Parents Mary Ann Banston & Geo Demestic Bury (as written on the record).
Marriage: Mary Ellen Bury married Jack Eudey 16 Sept 1933. Parents names on certificate are George Dimmella Bury, occupation: Chemist & Mary Ann Banston.
Death: George Bury. 3 Oct 1921 at Healesville, Victoria. Occupation: Retired Chemist. aged 82. Father: Richard Bury. Mother: particulars not known. Informant Mary Ann Bury wife 44 Napier St, Fitzroy. Buried 5 Oct 1921 Healesville Cemetery. Born Liverpool, England. How long in Australia: not known. Married: Fitzroy, Victoria when aged 68 years to Mary Ann Hall. 1 daughter Mary Ellen Bury age 14 years.
Marriage: George Dimmilla Bury. 11 May 1906 Congregational Church, Fitzroy. Widower 1901. 2 children both deceased. Age 46. Born Yorkshire, England. Occupation Gardener. Living 181 Wellington St, Collingwood. Usual address Strathmerton, Victoria. Parents: Richard Bury & Mary Ann Sutherland, both deceased. Mary Ann Hall Widow 1904. 1 child - 1 child living. Born London, England. Living 181 Wellington St, Collingwood. Parents Willian Banston occupation Dealer & Emma Matilda Hall.
*Age on death certificate is 82 (1839). Age on marriage certificate is 46 (1860). Wife Mary Ann states on death certificate George was 68 years old when they married.
I can't find a George Dimella Bury born in Yorkshire or a Mary Ann Sutherland birth or marriage. I did find a Richard Clough Bury on the 1851 census England.
18 Miller St, Manchester. Richard Clough Bury age 29 born Manchester 1822. Painter & Plasterer Sarah Ann Bury age 20 born Liverpool 1821 Ellen Dunella Bury age 7 born Liverpool 1844 George Bury age 5 Born Liverpool 1846 William Sothern age 58 born Liverpool Daniel Sothern age 15 born West Derby Thomas Sothern age 13 born Liverpool
Marriage record for Richard Clough Bury & Sarah Ann Sothern 28 Mar 1842 Liverpool.
Baptism record found: George Bury - 22 Feb 1846 - St Peters Liverpool. Father Richard Clough Bury and Sarah Ann.
Death: Richard Clough Bury. July 1855 Emerald Hill, South Melbourne, Victoria. Occupation Painter. Aged 33 (1822). Born Manchester England. A wife, 1 son & 1 daughter at Emerald Hill (no names given).
* 1 son could be George Bury & 1 daughter could be Ellen Dimella Bury as on 1851 census.
*I think Richard Clough Bury's parents were Samuel Bury b1792 & Martha Dimella b1791.
The search was then on for the whereabouts ofGeorge Dimella Bury after Richard Bury's death in 1855 and before his marriage in 1906 in Fitzroy, Victoria.
Marriage: 28 Jan 1879 Trinity Church, Adelaide, South Australia. George Dimella Bury - single- age 31 - born 1848 - father Richard Clough Bury. To: Elizabeth Ann Langdon - single - age 22 - born 1857 - father Ebenezer Langdon.
Children to George & Elizabeth. George Ebenezer Bury 1879 Hindmarsh, S.A. -1953 Amelia Helena Bury 1881 Adelaide S.A. -1958 Caroline Elizabeth Bury 1883 Thebarton, Hindmarsh -1883 Thebarton Alexander Bury 1884- Thebarton, Hindmarsh - 1885 Thebarton Hubert Bury 1886-1920 Collingwood, Victoria
Marriage: 8 May 1900 Baptist Church North Adelaide, South Australia. George Dimmilla Bury - widower - age 43 - born 1857 father Richard Bury. To Mary Wilson - widow - age 45 - born 1855 - father Thomas Cocks. (Not sure if that is Cocks or Cox)
I didn't find any records for children born in this marriage.
30 July 1897 Express & Telegraph Newspaper. George Demilla Bury mentioned as The Corporation Ranger giving prosecution evidence in court for an offence that had been committed.
22 Mar 1901 Adelaide Police Gazette. George Dimella Bury failed to appear, ordered to pay 3/9 in respect of support for 4 children.
10 June 1901 Adelaide Police Gazette. George Dimella Bury - unexecuted warrant for wife desertion.
I am confused by the different birth dates and ages given for George at different times, is it the right person found each time or is there another George? Was it the same George who was a Corporation Ranger, a gardener and a chemist? Have I got the correct parents for him on the 1851 census.....?
Please help me get this straight in my mind!

Hi Trish I suggest you ask the 'South Aus State Library' AND the 'VIC State Library' (for his later years) - they have an 'Ask a Librarian' service -(on-line) they will check their electoral rolls -and see IF there was only with that name.

Manchester, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1930 (Cathedral)
Name: George Dimella Bury Marriage Date: 2 Oct 1832 Parish: Manchester, St Mary, St Denys and St George Spouse's Name: Elizabeth Stokes Snallow Archive Roll: 699

George, Bachelor, of this Parish, Cabinet Maker
Elizabeth, Spinster, of this Parish
Witnesses:- Thomas Parry and William Coverly (his mark)
Unfortunately the witnesses are not going to be any help ........ Thomas Parry's name appears on several of the certificates, so he was what they call a "professional Witness", some one who was paid a couple of pennies to stand for a couple who didn't have any friends with them This was not uncommon in those days.
