Thank you, The 2 references to Job confirm the other information I had had. The family of Edward Dowding is intruiging as its only 16 miles away from Job's family. I wonder if they were related. Even more so as the inquest into the death I have attributed to my Elijah was registered as Edwin Elisha Dowding and the inquest report in the paper named the person as Fredrick Dowding. To borrow a phrase from Alice; Curioser and curioser! |

Is some kind person able to look up the records that relate to my 3x great grandfather Job(e) Dowding and his wife Jane who lived in Wingfield near Bradford on Avon Wiltshire please. Their son Elijah is my 2x great grandfather and altho' someone kindly found a record of his christening (1822) it is earlier than other records indicate. I wondered whether the baby of 1822 had died and they had reused the name. It could be that a 'replacement' child was called Edwin Elijah (as shown in the record of 2xg granddad's death in 1855) but chose to use his middle name. I have been sent christening, birth and/or census details for Elijah's brother James and sisters Sarah, Emma, Matilda, Louisa and Eliza, but would be grateful for knowledge of any more. So as not to waste anybody's time I have already got details of Job's marriage (1809) and death (1847)and Elijah's marriage(1850) and death (1855) also. Sorry it's a long shopping list but I am keen to get to grips with this final bit of my fathers family history. Thank you in anticipation |
