I really appreciate the help given above which has been extremely useful, but I would still like to nail down where they were in the 1891 census, but have not yet managed to do so.

Yes, that would be them in 1881.
Emma appears to have emigrated to US as well and married to a man called White although by 1910 was widowed. George Beckett was living with her at that time and was listed as brother.

Thank you all so much.
That is absolutely perfect.
I would still like to try and track them both on the 1891 census but the information on Ada is really useful.
:)

On this passenger list Louisa is with husband and 4 children. The name above them is George Beckett. It says that they're all returning home to Cold Springs, NY.

Hi
He was definitely in the US in 1920 as I have him on the census there with his sister and her family. He apparently arrived in the US around 1904. He was in the 1901 UK census living as a boarder.
Thanks for trying to help though.
I am not sure how much adoption there was in the late 19th century but Ada would have been from a very poor family. It's quite possible she did not survive until 1891 census but I have not located a suitable death record for her either!

Hi
I am trying to track Albert George Beckett b1881 (Apr-Mar-Jun) Kingston, Middx/Surrey and also Ada Mary Beckett b1878 (Jul-Aug-Sep) Kingston Middx/Surrey. Their Parents Wiiliam & Mary both died in 1881.
The problem I have is 1891 census for both, although I have a vague memory I found at least one of the previously in some kind of school/institution, but cannot find that today.
Albert George often changed his name to George especially in later life and eventually emigrated to the US where he lived for a while with his older sister Louisa and her husband William Proudfoot. I have found him in 1901 census as a boarder with the Fuller family (not related I think) and also in the US federal census of 1920 living with William, Louisa & Family. There is a possible 1910 US census that has a George Beckett living with a widowed sister Anna (or Annie) but am not sure that is him. He had a sister Annie but her age would not be quite correct so that could be a red herring.
Ada Mary I can find no answer to after the 1881 census. Had she died before 1891 or was she in a school/institution of some sort (possibly with George).
Sorry about all the info. My first real request out of all of this is any trace of them in 1891 or help with whatever happened to Ada Mary?
Thanks in advance. Will keep monitoring to answer any questions.
