Robert, Hamilton is a fairly common surname if you can tell us how you worked back to him it would be helpful.
|
Do you mean he was born in Crieff, or just that his family lived there?
(EDIT: PM sent to Robert to let him know there are replies, and how to answer - he's a fairly new poster.)

William Hamilton 1791 is the brick wall I am hitting I know he married Catherine Brydie in 1816 and I have managed to find all the data on there children they were all born in Crieff but can't find any info on William I was hopping to get parent details from marriage cert but its only a parish record of their wedding no details on parentage
Many Thanks
Robert Hamilton

Scotlands People doesn't show the birth of any William Hamilton in Perthshire 1785-95, unfortunately.
That, combined with lack of info on marriage record, probably means you'll never be able to trace his ancestry, I'm afraid.

Katherine Brydie could be the same person but on all the info I have on wedding bands and census the spelling is Catherine
Any info on the date of my great grandfathers death would be great as i can't seem to find any details :-)
|
Catherine is shown as a widow in 1861 so presume John died between census of 1851 and 1861
Using Scotland's People site - pay to view but only £7 for 30 credits
Unfortunately formal registration didn't start in Scotland until 1855, so you might have to check OPR and Statutory deaths, but there are several William Hamilton deaths.
1 credit will give you a list and area of death, for 5 credits you can open the record and download with all the details it will contain.
The help section on SP will tell you what information you can expect to find on the record

A third distillery in Crieff , about 1812 , was situated in the corner of what is now the Academy Park, and opposite Coldwells House .This was carried on by Mr D .Halley , familiarly known as “ Provost Halley “ . Later on another distillery was in operation , worked by J. Johnston and afterwards by William Hamilton . In or before 1831, this distillery was converted into a brewery , conducted by the Drysdales .
