This morning I received a new 'hint' from Ancestry about Lucy Rachel Oubridge and I have looked her up in FreeBMD :-

Births Jun 1866
OUBRIDGE Lucy R Newcastle T
10b 71

The family had been in that area but my family line had moved south by that time so knowing details of Lucy's family might enable me to ascertain if there is a previous family connection?

Looks like William Bracewell Mercer died in New Zealand in Napier Provincial District Hawkes Bay on 29 Jul 1953 Probate granted to John Oubridge Mercer Napier sealed London

Thank you Gins, that's lovely. She is definitely part of my family as I already have details on Matthew and Joanna but she was Matthew's second wife and so her children don't feature in the direct line. The old memory can't cope with all of it straight away!

Looks like Lucy Rachel also died in Napier, New Zealand her burial was on 12 Feb 1952 Park Island Cemetery aged 85 years the address of 15 Selwyn Rd where she resided is also given on William's University of Cambridge profile
