I have an ancestor, Cornelius Crosbee/Crosbie/Crosby, born in Birmingham c1841 to Henry and Harriett. He appears on the 1851 census with them. He his baptised in 1854.
He next appears(several times) in the Criminal Records in the 1850's and 1860's, finally appearing to be transported to Australia in 1866. I can see the record of his arrival and there is a possible crew list in 1873. I then loose track of him.
He is not on 1861 census in his own name. unless he is one of the 'C C' entries as an inmate.
Can anyone find any further record of him please?
There is a possible death in Prestwich in 1922 that might be him.
I don't need any other family info, its only Cornelius I'm chasing.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Andy

List of ex-convicts travelling to Newcastle NSW from WA Crosby Cornelius 05/07/1873)
Chris :)
Edits
All of these men were Imperial Convicts sent to Western Australia and when they had received their Certificate of Freedom or Conditional Pardon, all moved to Newcastle NSW The Colonial Secretary of Western Australia sent to the Colonial Secretary of NSW a full convict history of the first to arrive in 1873, including their original place of trial, native place and a physical description.

(not sure Ancestry has Freedom/Pardon Records for 1873)

Perhaps you should buy the 1922 death cert, Andy, just to rule it out (or in!)

Re the 1894 marriage posted by Malyon -
William Henry Hemingway married Martha Ann (in 1911 she calls herself Ruth Ann), so that Cornelius must have married Susan.
Henry Hemingway in the 1901 England Census Name: Henry Hemingway Age: 24 Estimated birth year: abt 1877 Relation to Head: Head Gender: Male Spouse: Martha Ann Hemingway Birth Place: Leeds, Yorkshire, England Civil Parish: Holbeck Ecclesiastical parish: St Matthew County/Island: Yorkshire Country: England Street address: Registration district: Holbeck Sub-registration district: Holbeck ED, institution, or vessel: 16 Neighbors: View others on page Piece: 4202 Folio: 119 Page Number: 26 Household schedule number: 196 Household Members: Name Age Henry Hemingway 24 Martha Ann Hemingway 23 James Dalton Hemingway 3 Walter Hemingway 1
Possibly that Cornelius:
Cornelius Crosby in the 1911 England Census Summary Books Name: Cornelius Crosby Number of Males: 1 Number of Females: 2 Household schedule number: 201 Street address: 28 Alma Street Civil Parish: Halifax Ecclesiastical parish: Halifax St James County/Island: Yorkshire West Riding Country: England Residence Year: 1911 Registration district: Halifax Registration District Number: 496 Sub-registration district: Halifax South Sub-Registration District Number: 5 ED, institution, or vessel: 10 Neighbors: View others on page Piece: 1528
I can't see him in the actual 1911 census, nor Cornelius and Susan in 1901 or 1911.

Have now found Susan/Susannah in 1901 under her maiden name of Crossley. No sign of Cornelius, yet. Turning into quite a saga chasing this branch, more criminality than the rest of my tree.
