Hi Prickles,
Thank you.
My Joseph was born abt 1792 not sure where yet and died Aug 1834 in Whitwick Leicestershire, Ruth was born abt 1791 in Thringstone Leicestershire and died 1862 in Whitwick. When they married Ruth was the widow of Thomas Henson they had a daughter Mary born 1816 in Whitwick. Cannot find a marriage between Thomas and Ruth yet, I think Thomas died 1817 in Whitwick.

Nottsgirl - on FreeREG, looked up all the 1818 marrs at Staffordshire Stoke-upon-Trent (St Peter ad Vincula) [Parish Register] with a groom called John - there were 28 (although FreeREG generated 2 extra near duplicates to deal with their indexing issues). All but 2 of these showed:
Witness Samuel POULSON
Your Joseph Williamson - Mary Perry marr shows Witness Samuel POULSON Witness Samuel POULSON Register note Married by licence. 2nd witness described as "Samuel Poulson jnr."
I would call these "professional witnesses", possibly they're the parish clerk (or his mates and rellies).

Hi mgnv,
Thank you I was wondering if that was the case. I don't think that is my Joseph as they were both widows.
Would be interesting to see what the marriage licence says though.

(that Licence could be on above, below the Samuel Poulson, Senior)
11 May 1822 - Staffordshire Advertiser - Stafford, Staffordshire, England
Died On the 5th inst. Mr. Samuel Poulson, of Stoke-upon- Trent, aged 6l years; of which parish he was clerk for the long period of 45 years. It is supposed (on a moderate calculation) that during his extensive practice, he has consigned not less than 14,000 of his fellow mortals, to the silent confines of the tomb.
(below one, looking on original FMP, Hannah Griffin)

Hi Chris, That you that answer's the question on the Poulson's. Yes we have that marriage.
I think Joseph was born abt 1792 in Whitwick Liecestershire where his and Ruth's son Joseph was born in 1825. Joseph senior died 1834 and is buried in Whitwick. Ruth seemed to traveller back and forth to Saffordshire but is buried in Whitwick too in 1862.
I think Joseph may have been married to an Elizabeth but as Wiclwick records are on online have yet to find a marriage.

Hi,
Should have said if he was married to an Elizabeth it would have been some time between 1810 and 1815 children were James christened 12 Feb 1815, charlotte 25 Dec 1816 and Frances 13 Jan 1822. Elizabeth was buried 3 Dec 1822 aged 31yrs.
