The couple married in Portswood, Hampshire in 1872

They had a daughter Lucy born 1873.........died 1876

Charles McMasters died in 1899......Residence: Eastleigh, Hampshire (Railway Guard)

Emily remarried George Newton in 1900

The only census record I can find for this couple after the 1872 marriage........is Emily with husband George Newton on the 1901 census living in Eastleigh, Hampshire.

Emily died in 1903

As Charles McMasters was a Railway guard and worked for the Eastleigh Railway, I can understand why he might not show on the census records.........but I can't find Emily on the 1881 and 1891 census records.


I have searched on Ancestry and FMP but not had any luck.

Eastleigh.
A smoking concert was held at the Junction Hotel on Wednesday evening for the benefit of the widow of Guard Charles McMasters, who expired suddenly while on duty in August last. A good programme was provided, and it is anticipated that as the result of the effort, a very helpful sum will be handed over to Mrs. McMasters.
