How can I find details on people born 1460 and earlier.

I have tried numerous websites with no luck most go back to mid 1500's.

Do I have to contact the local record office in cornwall to see if they have records.

I have tried OPC, parish record,and a number of geneology sites including familysearch/freereg/freecen/genuki.

no luck I have hit a dead end to find marriage/childern/parents of Thomas Merrifield and also then to be able to move even further back with ancestors.
