I wonder if anyone is able to see any leads referring to James McKirdy who died sometime between 1837 - 1851. I have his widow Mary (m.s. Drew b c 1814) and daughters Rosina (b 1837) and Sarah (b1832) on 1951 census in Glasgow and thereafter until they pass away but I can't find anything on James or his marriage to Mary or 1941 census. I think it is most likely to be in Scotland or Ireland. Just to make things easier, the name McKirdy is also sometimes spelt McCurdy, McHurdy or McKirdie. Any help will be very much appreciated. |

And even spelt McKirBy if FMP transcript is anything to go by and IF this is the correct family. Unable to check original. The only place you'll get that is in Scotlands People site |

???? Cumbrae is an island in the Firth of Forth. Not knowing James' occupation, could he have been there for work? |

Thank you all they are all correct except Cumbrae is a new one for me Greyghost. I'll have to look at that. I do get most of my info from Scotland's people but keep drawing blanks for James McKirdy. According to marriage certificates from daughters, he was a gardener and a labourer. |
