Hi and thanks to you all. I have also come up with a lot of this information and think also that Alice was an unmarried mother. I also came up with a site on Google about a one name study of Scard which has given me a lot of information which confirms everything. Except of course that Thomas Scard was the father of Fanny Scard Hinwood. It is such a coincidence with the name of Felicia through the family. I would love to go back in time! I have emailed Judith S Adams to see if she has any more information on any illegitimate children. Will let you all know. Thanks again. Lesley x :-) <3

I think it was Chris who mentioned a Thomas Scard a Miller, well this appears to be his son on 1841. Strangely Thomas Jnr's mother was called Felicia (nee Hooper). Thomas Jnr. also had a sister named Felicia.
This appears to be the only Scard family in the vicinity (an unusual name), and Felicia also is not that usual a name and both the mother and sister were both Felicia's .

Now, assuming that as an unmarried mother of 2 children that Alice may have knocked a few years off her age in the hope of attracting a new partner, I have found a baptism which 'may' fit:
Name: Alice Hinwood Gender: Female Christening Date: 25 Dec 1804 Christening Place: Warminster, Wiltshire, England Father: Charles Hinwood Mother: Ann
This looks like a probable brother for her? :
Name: Thomas Hinwood Gender: Male Christening Date: 17 May 1807 Christening Place: Warminster, Wiltshire, England Father: Charles Hinwood Mother: Ann
Having found a Thomas on 1841 who was a Blacksmith (as claimed for the father at the weddings of her 2 children), I wondered if they used their uncle's name in the absense of a father (not as unusual as you may think) ?

Thank you. I am trying to find out where Scard comes into the equation as well. On Google apparently the Scard and Hinwood/Henwood familes are interlinked. I will carry on. Thanks again. :-)

Hi. Thanks for the info. I have this record attached to Felicia but was wondering if it read nurse and not neice? I know she was a nurse throughout her life. I couldn't quite understand how she could be the neice of the head because of the age difference and surname. It could just be me not thinking straight. I will keep on plodding. :-S

Hi. This is what I have found as well. Mother named as Alice but no father named. Both Felisha and Louisa have the middle names of Scard. This is going to be a mystery to unravel. Exciting. :-)

I think the name of the father could have been made up as the baptisms show.
By their middle names it seems like that could have been the fathers surname but I can find no person by the name of Thomas Scard who would fit.
Can anyone find Alice past the 1841 census?

Thank you all so much. I had an idea that Felisha's father was Thomas. Interesting as well in that the witnesses at the wedding were Felisha s sister Louisa who married William Bladwell. I will now be inputting all info and see where it leads me. So exciting . Thanks all again. :-D <3
