Hi all. Thank you so much for all of your input. Lots to think on. Their first born son was called William Griffin Francis born 1812. Their first born daughter was called Mary Ann born in 1815. They are keeping with tradition with first names. As far as I am aware there wasn't a second marriage for either of them because I have traced them through the census. I will go over all of my research again incase I have missed anything. I think I have traced Mary Griffin's parents who were William Griffin and Elizabeth Ellen. I will carry on and hopefully turn something up. Thank you all again.Lesley. :-) <3 |

Any chance that either bride or groom had a later marriage? |

I did notice though, Sylvia, that J. Knight was also a witness on a few of the other marriages so evidently not a relative. |

It is very rare to find father's name on Parish registers before about 1837, when it became law for bmds to be registered. |

The image is on Ancestry but no fathers' names. I don't think fathers' names were recorded on marriage records that early. |

Hi all again. I need to pose a question. I have found the transcription of a marriage for my great great grandparents in 1811 but everywhere I look it says no image available. I am looking for the names of their fathers. It is between William Francis and Mary Griffin. The 1st Jan 1811 Christ Church, Grey Friars, Newgate, London. I am now stumped. Where can I go now???? Any ideas? Thanks. :-S |
