Hi Sylvia,
To answer your question " He was a labourer on James baptism in 1846 and on the 1851 ??????????" Butcher's was the family trade but when they wasn't doing that they were labourer's, I think after Jame's father James died in 1831 the butchering went down hill for them.
James brother William was a Schoolmaster on his children's christenings and 1841 census but by 1851 he was a Seller Of Hot Wheat.

The Ann Pilkington who died 1858 is not Jame's wife Ann that Ann was aged 9yrs and of Bulwell

hi All,
Sorry had to rush off to do a bit of baby sitting that I forgot about
Thank you all for your help, yes I have all the info on James apart from the 2 census that I asked for. So looks like Ann died 1858 then so now just need the 1861 census for James but looks like it's missing or he did not fill it in (so to speak)

Burton Joyce. Burglary.— Daniel Parker and James Pilkington, two old men, were charged with burglariously entering the house of Mr. Richard Thorpe, publican, of Burton Joyce, on the night of Friday, the 27th ult Prisoners were found in possession of a crow bar, which apparently had been used in forcing an entrance to the house through the window. A silver sugar bowl and a large quantity of bacon had been carried away. The case was dismissed, a second charge was then preferred against Parker, for stealing some sacks, the properties of various persons. He was remanded till Wednesday.

Hi All,
Can anyone locate James Pilkington born 1796 Burton Joyce Nottingham on 1851 and 1861 census please. I have him on 1841 and 1871 census he died in 1873 he was married to Ann Jane Freeman in 1843 in Burton Joyce she was his second wife.
Thank you for any help given on this.
