Looking for any info on the 1939 register for a Joseph Davies,born 1910,POB unknown,but could well be Dalton-in-Furness,Lancashire.(his wife & children are on the 1939 register,at 25,Thornton Park,Dalton-in-Furness.He was in the Royal Navy for a number of years,based,primarily,at Chatham,but appears to of been discharged before then.

Do you know his actual DOB as the 1939 register can be searched with that.

Even if he had been discharged from the RN before 1939, he may well have had a commitment to Reservist time and been recalled, so may not be registered.

His DOB is given as 27th April 1910,in Dalton-in-Furness,but I can find no record of his birth.THANK YOU for your help.

Her Maiden name was Clark.I do have the marriage certificate.married 1933 in Dalton-in-Furness.He was based at Clapham at the time with the Royal Navy,aged 23.Father Thomas is given as deceased (probably 1925 in Dalton-in-Furness).He was a labourer. I also have some of his navy records-1925-1929,in which he gives his DOB & POB as Dalton.

When did he enlist - wondering if he lied about his age to do so? My grandfather's youngest brother actually enlisted using one of his older brothers DOB? There's a Joseph Francis Davies born in Dalton in 1912 (mmn Rennie). Have you looked for his father Thomas in the 1911 census?

1925 by the looks of things.I thought exactly the same.I have looked for Thomas in the 1911 census but been unable to find anything conclusive.

Forget the birth I suggested for Joseph Francis - he died in the same quarter as his birth. Have you found deaths for Joseph and Nellie - do they give any further clues?

This ones birth was registered in 1903 with mmn Mort - and Joseph Davies married Catherine Mort in 1901.

Flip-Joseph died in 1963 in Sheffield-just waiting for his death certificate.Nellie died in 1982-she married my grandad after Josephs death.No clues-as yet.Josephs father is given as Thomas on his marriage certificate to Nellie in 1933.
