Hi Everyone,
Another jigsaw piece to solve.
I cannot find this family on the 1939 census. I know for certain the family were living in Waverley Road, Appleton, Warrington in 1944.
I cannot seem to find Eli Pilkington, nor his Wife Ivy Maude Pilkington 1908.
Children: Kenneth William Pilkington 25 Apr 1929 Marian Pilkington 25 May 1933 Eunice Pilkington 1936
Any help, suggestions would be appreciated :-)

Hi Shirley,
Yes she remarried a man who wasn't kind.
Eli died on the Stone Road in Staffordshire, He was impaled by his own load of steel piping in bad weather, it came through the cab and impaled him to his steering wheel.
The newspaper article states, Eli insisted he had a final ciggy before they attempted to move him, knowing full well once they did he would die. He died a hero, having stopped further up the road to slow down other lorries due to the black ice on the road, and then got caught by it himself :-(
Eli died on the day of his sons 3rd birthday, Instead of his dad knocking the door, it was a policeman. Ivy herself died when the same child was just 16. :-(
The family jack-knife from one tragedy to another.

Waverley Avenue comes under Runcorn, Cheshire on the 1939 register. It's the correct one as it runs into Greenfields Avenue.
The Pilkingtons are not at number 11:

Hi All,
Apologies for the lack of replies, i had a 5 day break in Spain :-D
Nice find Chris :-) Eli was a little rascal it seems!! His son Alan worked at the local bottling factory :-)
Eli never lived in the earlier numbers of Waverley Ave.... possibly the address of his friend? The family lived at No3 for quite a period of time (in fact mother remarried at that address, and died there also in the early 1960's)
Dea, they never left the UK. When i first started this tree 18 years ago i was surprised at the amount of Eli Pilkington's that exist :-( ..... The family also have several Ratcliffe Ratcliffe's in the tree!!! :-o
Thank you for your input so far.... it's very VERY much appreciated :-D

Both the report in 1941 and the report on his death in 1947 state his address as number 11 Waverley Avenue. So, although he wasn't there is 1939, he did later live there.
