I sometimes add something in as a ‘second’ name so it doesn’t mess up an a- z index
Such as John Dr Smith, or John DFC Smith etc. Maybe this idea would work here so John 3rd Smith, indicating it is a third spouse.

Your mother should be in your GR tree in her maiden name - your parentage will not be accurate otherwise!

Add the second spouse in the usual way, and C&P a copy of the marriage record in the 'Notes' section

I record ladies by their maiden name.
Record the first marriage in the normal way.
Add a second spouse.

Just bear in mind that the spouses will be added in year age, so if 2nd spouse was older than first, they will appear in the first position. To get round this I alter one of the spouse birth years so the second spouse is younger than the first and make a note of the correct DOB.

Just look out for the children, make sure they are with the correct parents.

I have my tree running but several years ago I added my mums new marriage but how do I record her …….
A) by using her maiden name or ie Forsyth
B) her first marriage name Hannon
I am stupidly struggling to sort this problem.
She was widowed from James Hannon in 1957
Remarried Henry ( Harry ) Law in dec 1959
