:-D :-D HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNG :-D :-D I hope ypu enjoy the day whatever you have planned. The little ones especially would have loved singing Happy Birthday to you. The home made lemon drizzle cake sounds nice.
Judging by the ages of the dogs in the rescue place not far from me, a lot were puppies during the pandemic Gwyn and were likely bought by people working from home then. A lot say they aren't housetrained, suffer separation anxiety and need introducing to the outside world, suggesting they haven't been walked. I think they were expected to fit in with family's needs but the dog's needs weren't considered by owners who didn't find enough out before they got them. Maybe this noisy dog is just 'on holiday being cared for though and missing it's owner!'
OH didn't get seen early this time. I went and parked at Morrisons to wait for him so pottered to their cafe. How it's changed in there with the exits from the tills all fenced off so people can only exit from them, just like we saw Sainsbury's had done when we last went. There must be so much stealing going on now. Is it like that at your supermarkets? It means much more walking for me though. The cafe had two drink machines that had broken down, so just a hot water dispenser and teabags and coffee jars. The hot water dispenser wasn't dispensing and I pressed other buttons and one appeared to switch the power on. Then I had to wait ages while it hotted up. I went and sat in the car then under a shady tree and read the newspaper I bought. The hospital have agreed to take OH's tooth and bridge out and just want a note from his dentist detailing any other work if it needs doing and they will do it all which will save the cost of his private dentist.
OH has a council meeting 15 miles away later and might carry on to a match near there if it finishes early as he says it will save fuel being nearby.

Thank you. It was a bit chaotic here but the noisy ones have just gone. Grandson made me a lovely lemon drizzle cake and the girls sang happy birthday, I obliged and blew out the one candle.
I have had a few cards that I brought with me and daughters and grandsons of course and the rest are waiting at home.. Inara made me a nice card too..
Thank you all for my cards, good to get them before I came away.

<3 <3 <3 <3 Happy Birthday Anng <3 <3 <3 <3
Have a lovely day and tell us all about it tonight.
Still 19 degrees here and the pc says rain is coming, sorry you lot in hot places.
Well I just had a phone call from Asda to say my order won't be here until 3.30pm instead of the alotted time of 12.30pm. I wonder if he has broken down or had an accident? I have two subs which will both be going back, they did'nt have my Corsydil daily mouthwash or my meal for one Lamb and colcanon so they have sent sausage and mash and I am not paying £3.25 for two horrid sauages and mash. I have never ordered that so why can't they send something I have ordered in the past?
Thats lovely your daughters raising money for Cancer Reserch. My mum died of Cancer and my best friend very young so I am with you there.

:-D <3 Happy Birthday AnnG <3 :-D. I hope you have a lovely day.
It’s wall to wall sunshine again. At the moment it’s about 21 degrees but is creeping up all the time. It should be a bit cooler than yesterday but still get to at least 28 with a chance it might reach 30. Yesterday became unbearable and, like Mandy said, it was such a hot night.
I did most of the washing yesterday but I still had some bedding to do so that was in the machine as soon as I got up and on the line by 8 am. I’ll bring it in again in a minute. I’ve done a couple more jobs that had to be done and that’s me finished for the day. It’s too hot to do anything else but I’m not very good at just lounging about doing nothing.
I hope your OH’s appointment goes well Annx.

Happy Birthday, Ann !
Enjoy your day.
Noise always seems louder in the night hours, doesn't it?
Some dogs are left to their own devices or have not had enough walks / activity to settle them. Unfair on them, if they are anxious and it's troublesome if you live nearby and they are left to bark. Our :-| There are dogs around here, but we seldom hear them Our noise comes from seagulls, who wake early and seem to want all the world to know that they are claiming 'their' space on the rooftops. Once one starts about 4 a.m others join in :-| :-0. It is easing off a bit, now that the chicks have been raised and the mornings are darker later, but they are a daily presence.
Mel, daughter will be raising funds for Cancer Research, in memory of her dad and also a dear school friend, who died as a young mum of a 3 years old son, almost 12 years ago. By chance, the walk will be on the weekend of the friend's anniversary <3
Feels hot and humid here, although it says 19 degrees and mostly cloudy. After yesterday, any drop in temperature is welcome.

Morning All,
Warm already although it is supposed to only be 14 degrees! I slept well though and am just posting before we set off for OH's teeth appointment at the hospital. Not sure whether we will pop elsewhere while we are out.
OH spotted the dog that has been barking a lot out for a walk when he fetched the bins in this morning. It's a staffie type and was barking the same bark as it was walking. We think it belongs to a couple further up the close who appear to work from home more now. The trouble is we wonder if they go out at night a lot as that is when it barks non stop. At least we aren't nextdoor to it.
Better get ready to go now as OH likes to be early for appointments as sometimes he gets seen sooner.

Thanks for the link Gwyn. I thought the information about all of the bridges was very interesting and will show OH as he will be interested too.
Off to bed now, OH has already gone.

Is your daughter sponsered for the walks she is doing?
BIL came this morning unexpectedly as he told me he was going off to work Sunday night but he said he had caught a cold at the wedding!!!!!!! I thought it took about 10 for a cold to come out if you had been in the company of someone who had one. Anyway he stood at the door and spoke to me and he did manage to get the new roller on the mowing deck and did some mowing. I think he may come tomorrow and do the front lawns and the orchard as he left those today but knowing BIL he will probably leave it till the weekend.
Mandy doll number three and we have only seen the first one!! I shall be expecting a picture of two now please? I don't blame you not buying sausage rolls again for quite a while, maybe mkae some of your own at least you will know they are safe. When I make m ine I use the ready rolled pastry in either shortcrust or the puff.
Its still sunny here and now its 18 degrees and feels warmer in than out.
Thank all for thinking of me its much appreciated (sp).

It certainly seems the sausage rolls were the problem as you thought Mandy. Poor Colin won't forget his horrid experience in a hurry will he, but it's good he's better again now. Yes I think you are even hotter where you are as we are still 28 degrees here. I've put a bottle of water in the fridge to take to bed with me tonight and the bungalow has been fairly cool with most curtains shut and windows open on the shady side. I think it will be hot tonight though. Gosh 3 dolls already, you are doing well with them. :-0
Oh Vera, it's much too hot for me where you are! What a shame the lady who wanted trifle didn't get a look in! lol. I don't like hats either but I have a canvas stetson I wear in the garden and a floppy one when I go out that will fold up to go in my bag. OH calls me the flowerpot woman in it. I think you were sensible to call off going to today's do. When I used to get migraines I found travelling on hot, bright, sunny days would trigger mine.

Oh it is hot here I went into the kitchen and thought oh the sun has moved round now I'll pul the blind up as I pulled it up it was like having the heat from the oven so I pulled it down again , I try to keep the kitchen cool as Max sleeps in there
Vera I never looked at the ingredients in the sausage rolls just chucked them in the bin ,fingers crossed he's fine again now ,but I feel guilty that I laid one on his plate and he was so bad .
Think its going to be a very hot night ,try and stay cool everyone and don't forget to have some extra drink to keep you hydrated.

Thinking of you today Mel <3 <3
Nice to see someone new on the thread, Glynis. We’d love to hear your memories. Every so often one of us will start a post with “Do you remember….” but, as Ann says, we have run out of steam a bit and mostly just chat. You have sparked a memory with your name. Who remembers the husky voiced singer/actress Glynis Johns? I rather liked her.
The two weddings sound very different but both very enjoyable and I hope the couples have a long and happy life together. I know what you mean about church weddings AnnG, there’s a solemnity about them but secular marriages can be meaningful and moving too. My son was divorced and my dil widowed when they married 8 years ago and there wasn’t a dry eye in the place as it was a very dignified ceremony and personal to them. (You might remember AnnG, I wrote about it - at length - on the bird/wildlife board.)
I’m glad Colin got over his sickness, Mandy. Have sausage rolls upset him before? I wondered if the manufacturer had slightly changed the recipe, perhaps added something that wasn’t there before and it’s that one little thing that made him ill.
We had a lovely afternoon yesterday at the Summer Party. We were there for nearly 6 hours and sat outside the whole time. The chairs and tables were all under 2 large gazebos so there was a bit of shade and most of us wore hats. I absolutely hate hats but I took a very large one than covered all my head and the back of my neck and was very glad of it. Even so my head has been aching and my eyes dodgy all day today. The final irony after all my trifle problems was that the lady who had requested a trifle didn’t get any. The one I bought proved so popular that it had all gone by the time she got to the desserts.
I am supposed to be having tea and scones at someone else’s house this afternoon but I have made my apologies and cried off. I know that I will get a full blown migraine if I am outside in today’s heat, even if I can stay in the shade. My iPad and phone both say it is 32 degrees and my phone says it feels like 39. At the moment I am just keeping a migraine at bay. Normally I wouldn’t stay online for long but I am propped on pillows on the bed and have been typing a sentence at a time, then closing my eyes for 10 minutes. I’ve also got a fan helping to cool me but I think I’ve had enough for now. Stay cool and have plenty to drink everyone.

To be fair to the traffic wardens, the people were parked on double yellow lines, so they should have known better. They probably thought they'd move the cars before any wardens came round. They didn't reckon on an earlybird ;-)

Afternoon All,
It's 28 degrees here now and supposed to get hotter later, but inside with all the curtains shut it feels cooler than yesterday to me. No lie in for us as we had a rude awakening by the windowcleaner! He came a week late last time, but has come a week early this time and decided to start first thing before it gets hot! It's a wonder he didn't catch me in the shower!! :-0
That time has gone so quickly Mel. A sad memory. Best wishes. <3 <3
Gwyn that would be a shock for people, but the wardens probably have to show they cover the full range of times they ticket people or there'd be no point in having the time limits. That's good your daughter doing a walk for charity and a good idea to do the training for it before it gets hot.
We just had an easy jacket potato with low fat cottage cheese, a boiled egg and salad for lunch. I have some info to add to my tree and then I shall look online at some bathroom cabinets. So many now are lit and that means an electrician if you change it in future and ours doesn't need to be lit being near the window.
We just had thunder aand lightning with a sprinkle of rain but it's stopped again now.

Afternoon all,
<3 sending love to you Mel <3
Phew it's 29 and scorching out so we're in with the fan going ,did get a few jobs done first thing while it was cool . Colin is fine again now thanks and I don't think I will be buying sausage rolls for him any time soon .
Nice to see a new name posting have you any more memories Glynis .
Anng glad you enjoyed the wedding ,two weddings both different in their ways but they both sounded great ,no weddings here in the church by us I should think the last ones were before covid .
Oh that traffic warden was sneaky Gwyn getting some tickets on early so perhaps he wouldn't have to be out in the heat to much ,I bet they have to do so many tickets each day . I noticed on the weather map that down south should be hotter than here and this 29 degrees is bad enough
Ann hope OH's migraine has eased this heat doesn't help does it.
I'm going to sew up another doll this afternoon that will be number three .

Good morning all.
<3 <3 <3 Mel thinking of you.
It is back to normal here, supposed to be 21 degrees but looks very grey and feels chilly to me. Rained earlier too so I guess we have had summer here. At least we had three good days. Sneaky of the traffic warden Gwyn However people do try and get away with things
I still feel, after many times of attending weddings in places other than church, A church wedding to me has so much more meaning and feeling about it. Secular weddings are so brief. Especially for a first time bride. Just the way of the world I know, we have come away from the church and religion.

Thinking of you Mel <3
Lovely to hear that the weddings went so well and the weather was kind to you. Interesting to hear of the different celebrations. It's about 8 years since I went to a wedding as a guest, but have attended church services to see family friends marry.
It's very warm here , 26 so far and possibly going to reach 35 later :-0 so I won't be going out in that heat. Elder daughter is doing a charity walk next month, so got up early to get some miles done before the heat built up. She told us that the traffic warden was out and about too putting tickets on cars at about 6.50 a.m - a nasty surprise for someone, when they woke up this morning. Parking is very limited, near where she lives, but she was in a bay, where you can stay until 9 am, which suits her on work mornings, as she will have left before that. This morning, she just moved the car a bit further away from home , before 8 a.m to an unlimited area before going indoors.
I hope Colin is feeling better today. Seems too much of a coincidence that he was ill twice after eating sausage rolls.- Shouldn't happen if they were well in date, but perhaps the shop hadn't stored them properly. I hate wasting food, but would much rather throw away food than risk someone's health, especially when you need to keep hydrated in this heat.
Take care everyone.
