Hello all

Amen to the Collect for today Cynthia.

keeps my way secure." Psalm 18 v 32.

Collect (special prayer) for today:

O God the King of glory,
you have exalted your only Son Jesus Christ
with great triumph to your kingdom in heaven:
we beseech you, leave us not comfortless,
but send your Holy Spirit to strengthen us
and exalt us to the place where our Saviour Christ is gone before,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen.

In today's Gospel reading, John 17, we hear Jesus pray for his disciples. For them. For us. For then. For now.

Such is love......

Such is love…………

1 Love divine, all loves excelling,
joy of heav'n to earth come down,
fix in us Thy humble dwelling;
all Thy faithful mercies crown!
Jesus, Thou art all compassion,
pure, unbounded love Thou art;
visit us with Thy salvation;
enter every trembling heart.

2 Breathe, O breathe Thy loving Spirit
into every troubled breast!
Let us all in Thee inherit,
let us find the promised rest.
Take away our love of sinning;
Alpha and Omega be;
end of faith, as its beginning,
set our hearts at liberty.

3 Come, Almighty to deliver;
let us all Thy life receive;
suddenly return and never,
nevermore Thy temples leave.
Thee we would be always blessing,
serve Thee as Thy hosts above;
pray, and praise Thee without ceasing,
glory in Thy perfect love.

4 Finish then, Thy new creation;
pure and spotless let us be;
let us see Thy great salvation
perfectly restored in Thee.
Changed from glory into glory,
till in heav'n we take our place,
till we cast our crowns before Thee,
lost in wonder, love, and praise.

Go on...........sing. You know you want to :-D :-D

Thank you for another interesting theme this week Cynthia. My old school motto was Amor Vincit Omnia - Love Conquers All - and I really think it does.

Such is love.........

Lilly loved the golden bracelet she’d been given. It was a symbol of her fiancé’s love—something precious beyond measure. She reached out to touch it…
Panic gripped Lilly’s heart. The bracelet wasn’t on her wrist! She knew she’d put it on that morning. She must have lost it! It could be anywhere—she’d been on a long walk. Where, oh where, had it fallen off?
And how could she lose that bracelet? What must her fiancé think? She felt unbearably terrible and ashamed.

Unable to find it on her own, she told her fiancé; his reaction completely surprised her. He wasn’t mad at her. In fact, he assured her that all that mattered to him was her. He knew just how much she loved it and assured her he’d work with her to find it if they at all could, but her actions had not affected his love in the least.

Wiping away the tears and the shame, Lilly began to realize that her fiancé wasn’t surprised at her failures—and when she failed, she should run to him, not away. His arms were always open wide; he saw her, not as the mess she was, but as his beloved wife-to-be. This is how God loves us.

TODAY IS ASCENSION DAY – Lord, what a wondrous event it must have been.

Let us be inspired today by the disciples who, after witnessing Jesus ascend to heaven in a cloud, went back to Jerusalem and "continuously joined in prayer."

Let us today lift our prayers to you, expressing our deep need for your presence in our lives and in our world, and our earnest desire for your guidance, strength, and assistance.

May we embrace the empowering promise of your Holy Spirit, enabling us to bear witness in our families, our communities, and across the globe. We offer these prayers in the name of Jesus, our Ascended Lord. Amen.

Such is love......

"What does love look like? It has the hands to help others. It has the feet to hasten to the poor and needy. It has eyes to see misery and want. It has the ears to hear the sighs and sorrows of men. That is what love looks like.” ~ Augustine

Hello all

I'm here and ok..ish, life can be challenging at times, thank you Cynthia and Vera for asking about me.

I've read two books about Rob Burrows and been upset by both of them... the video showing how Rob's wife cares for him is also very moving.

"Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one
ever come to you without leaving happier."

A very moving video today Cynthia. Carers seldom get the help and support they need and deserve. My brother gave up his home in Wales and a job he loved to return to Essex and become a full time carer for our father for the last 2; years of his life. Dad was quite severely physically disabled and by then had dementia and I know the toll it took on my brother.

I had noticed kandj hasn’t been posting recently. I do hope she is alright. Sending her love <3

Good morning :-)

I hope everyone has a happy and relaxing Bank Holiday.

Such is love.
One Sunday, a vicar invited a guest cleric to share a story of a father who sacrificed his only son to save his son's friend during a terrible storm at sea.

The father's decision was based on the fact that he knew his son had a strong faith but that his son’s friend didn’t. The father wanted to save his son's friend from an eternity without Jesus. The cleric urged the congregation to accept God's offer of salvation.

After the service, the guest revealed that he was the father in the story who lost his only son to the sea, and the son's friend he chose to save was, in fact, their vicar.

The story reminds us of the love of God, who sacrificed His only begotten Son to save us.

The Collect (special prayer for today)

God our redeemer,
you have delivered us from the power of darkness
and brought us into the kingdom of your Son:
grant, that as by his death he has recalled us to life,
so by his continual presence in us he may raise us
to eternal joy;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord,
who is alive and reigns with you,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever. Amen

Today we remember how Jesus taught us to love one another.

Bearing fruit:

A Christian is: a mind through which Christ thinks, a heart through which Christ loves, a voice through which Christ speaks, and a hand through which Christ helps. — Saint Augustine

Bearing Fruit

“I carry fast food gift cards in case I happen to see someone who might need a meal. One winter day I walked out of a store and saw a homeless man. I asked him if I could give him a gift card, and he asked me if I would give it instead to an old lady who was at the bus stop.. Here was a man who clearly could use this gift but he thought of someone else before himself. ‘What you do for the least of my brethren you do for me.”
- Janie A.

Good morning :-)

The reading on Sunday was about Jesus being the true vine, us being the branches and how we should be bearing fruit. There are plenty of examples of Christians who are bearing fruit in the world.

Kerry Davidson: Liberia
In Liberia, most people spend their time outside of their homes. They cook, do laundry, and wash dishes in their yards. When we first moved here, we often saw our neighbors fighting in the street. These fights ranged from shouting matches to physical altercations. Sometimes the police had to be called to resolve the situation.

Feeling troubled by the situation, I decided to pray for peace and reconciliation between our neighbors. I asked Jesus to intervene and transform their hearts. Miraculously, since I started praying, there hasn't been a single fight in our community. I believe that this is a result of God's grace and His ability to bring peace where there was once conflict.
