Long Lost Family – Series 2 Episode 4

Did you see the fourth episode of Long Lost Family on Thursday? It featured two very different but extremely emotional stories.

First we met Cherry who was born in Jersey during World War II, her mother put her up for adoption when the Germans invaded and she was sent to the mainland. Cherry grew up an only child but knew that out there somewhere she had a sister called Sheila who she desperately wanted to find and meet. The team at Long Lost Family manage to trace Sheila after they find the family tree of Sheila’s daughter on Genes Reunited. They get in contact with Sheila who has some shocking and exciting news. Their mother left Jersey pregnant, which means they have another sister, Valerie.

All three sisters grew up without siblings and Valerie was completely unaware that actually, she wasn't an only child. They all meet up for a very emotional reunion and the similarities between the sisters are really touching.

The show also follows the story of 25 year old Naomi who last saw her American father when she was 5 years old. The only memory she has of her father was the day they spent together at Downham Market. Naomi has been searching for her father since she was 14 years old without success; the bitterness she once felt towards her father has now been replaced with forgiveness. The Long Lost Family Team is able to track her father down to Texas where he was living under his middle name with his wife and 19 year old daughter. He is thrilled to know that his daughter has been looking for him but is worried that she will be angry with him. They decide to have their reunion by Downham Market as they both remember that day with great fondness. The episode ends with a very emotional and positive reunion between father and daughter.

If you missed episode four we really recommend you watch it, it’s a very moving and enjoyable episode. You can catch up here.
