Please could anyone help. I am searching for John Henry Hawley dob 1.5.1869 Sheffield on 1881 census with no success.
His mother is Elizabeth Hawley and father Joseph Hawley. I have found John Hy Hawley aged 21 living with his widowed mother Elizabeth age 52 and a boarder on the 1891 census living at Shoreham Street, Sheffield but have drawn a blank on the 1881 census. I do not have a date of death for Joseph (his father) at this time so he may or may not be on the census. If anyone could also help re Josephs death that would be a huge help too.

Thank you everyone for your help. The 1881 census above doesn't seem to tie in with either 1871 and 1891 with the ages of Joseph, Elizabeth (Eliza?) and Mary and none of the other children show on 1891. Would anyone be kind enough to advise which would be the best route forward on this.

Thank you ArgyllGran I hadn't thought to search for this other family in previous census to discount them. Back to drawing board re the 1881 census then.
Thank you AnnCardiff for your posts - I have John Henrys marriage to Annie Marie Downes in 1901 and his birth certificate showing Joseph and Elizabeth as his parents but can't seem to find a trace of them in 1881 so far

Wondering about this family - the details seem very similar to the 1871 posted by safc and AnnCardiff.
Can't see them convincingly in other censuses. All born Sheffield.
Elizabeth (jr) in 1871 might be Annie E in 1881 ??:

Thanks again ArgyllGran, that's fantastic! I think this is more than likely them as the boarder James Hibberd is also on the 1891 census with John Henry and Elizabeth and that would seem like a big coincidence.
