I do not know how to express my gratitude for all this information. My wife and I were trying to find out about Mary after she left Scotland. We found a letter from Mary's father to Mary's sister, Eliza, saying that he had not heard from Mary for some time and he was worried. Mary Rosa's marriage to Reginald Chalaupka. She's a widow. A mistake was made on the form, where it says name of father of wife it says Annie Smith but maiden name of mother of wife is Elizabeth Riddell.

Haileybury is abt 150 km N of North Bay (so abt 500km N of Toronto).
If I travel another 150km N, Then head E for 60km, I come to Timmins. 10km before I get to Timmins, I pas thru S Porcupine.

This seems to be George's sis returning to Canada after a visit to Scotland.

In Aug 1924, Geo arrives in Quebec alone - his wife is still in the UK, and he's going to Mrs Thorpe, his sis in Hamilton ON.

In Dec 1925, Mary, Annie & Eliz arrive in Halifax.
Annie was born Broadford, Skye, next to Harrapool, where Mary's aunt, Mrs K Kerr lives now.
Eliz's daur, Mrs Thorpe, is now living in what looks like Beamsvale - I presume she means Beamsville which is abt 40km E of Hamilton, two thirds of way to St Catherines.

On the 1935 electoral list there are George Mc Donnell (electrician) and wife at Dome Mines (Cochrane, Ontario.)

As the list is alphabetical, there are also Mr and Mrs James McDonnell, who could be completely unrelated, but just in case his brother.

If Annie Elizabeth was 11 months in December 1925, she would not have been alive in August 1924.

Mary and Annie were going to George at Dome Mines, South Porcupine, Ontario.

Eliz was going to her daughter, Mrs Thorpe at Naples ?arm, RR3, Beamsvale, Ont.

Further information about nearest relatives in Scotland also on the list- Mary's aunt was Mrs K Kerr from Harrapool Broadford, Skye, and Eliz's sister was Mrs Stevenson from 3 Cornhaddock Street Greenock.

Mary McKinnon Buchanan was born in Greenock, Scotland in 1902. She married George Elliott McDonnell, an electricaL engineer. They had a daughter ann elizabeth and migrated to Quebec on the MARBORN arriving in Quebec on 1/8/1924. Since then there is no trace of her.
