When she married mr Belshaw what did she give as her marital status
|
I repeat........who registered the birth/?
|
Re the suggestion that Frank might have been married to someone else -
just posting because of similar name, occupation , birthplace, and Lancashire marriage - though absolutely NO solid reason to think this might be the same man:

If Frank and Sophie were together constantly, the children's birth dates rule out his being aka Frankenburg - but if he occasionally popped back to Lancashire/Cheshire. . . . . ? Just a thought!
Sophia/Sophie was a hotel book-keeper before marriage:
Sophia Goldstone in the 1901 England Census Name: Sophia Goldstone Age: 22 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1879 Relation to Head: Daughter Gender: Female Father: Simon Goldstone Mother: Rebecca Goldstone Birth Place: Leeds, Yorkshire, England Civil Parish: Leeds Ecclesiastical parish: St John the Evangelist County/Island: Yorkshire Country: England Street Address: Registration District: Leeds Sub-registration District: West Leeds ED, institution, or vessel: 02 Neighbors: Piece: 4228 Folio: 26 Page Number: 27 Household Schedule Number: 165 Household Members: Name Age Simon Goldstone 60 - tailor Rebecca Goldstone 58 Rose Goldstone 30 Jennie Goldstone 24 Sophia Goldstone 22 - hotel book-keeper Reuben Goldstone 19 Florrie Goldstone 15 Cissie Goldstone 8
Frank Franken may have been a tailor in 1901 - hard to tell from the image:
Frank Franken in the 1901 England Census Name: Frank Franken Age: 25 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1876 Relation to Head: Boarder Gender: Male Birth Place: Germany Civil Parish: St James Ecclesiastical parish: St John the Baptist County/Island: London Country: England Street Address: 17 Broad Street Occupation: Registration District: Westminster Sub-registration District: St James, Westminster ED, institution, or vessel: 8b Neighbors: Piece: 98 Folio: 107 Page Number: 21 Household Schedule Number: 702
I don't see Frank & Sophie, nor Francis Leslie, after 1911.
There's an F Franken in the Pioneer Corps, 1940-45 - but the records are on Fold3, so I can't see if that's Francis Leslie or not. No sign of him on 1939 Register.

These are mentioned as the children of Reginald Fairclough Belshaw on his Army service record.
There is a copy of a letter written by Esther on notepaper headed 'The Prince of Wales Hotel', Southport stating that she was Esther Amelia Belshaw formerly Frankenburg, she was a widow and this was her 2nd marriage (2 Aug 1913) Her children were Ralph Frankenburg (by 1st husband) 1 May 1910, Reginald and Geoffrey Belshaw, twins 15 Aug 1913 and Terence 12 Jan 1917. She signed A Belshaw. This is in response to a letter dated 22 Mar 1918 from the Records Office asking for a copy of her MC and BCs for any children.
Another piece written 18 June 1918 states he has 4 children, all boys, last one born 5 Nov 1917.
