Frank, you silly billy. It was the window cleaner who climbed Ann's fence not the Postman lol
I think you will be safer on E Ba* than going out on your own!!!!!!!.We never know what will happen to you next.Good job it was the grass you fell on this time.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ROS FOR YESTERDAYxx

Catie,It sounds as though the girls are actually doing quite well.I think having each other will help.
Talking of Parrots, when I was working for Victim Support I had to visit a lady who had been sexually assaulted by a Taxi Driver. She kept parrots.I think there were 2,but one of them was allowed to fly free in the room.I had to ask her to put it in the cage as it kept landing on my head and was giving me the eebie jeebies lol

I hope your tickets arrive Ann.I don't think I have heard of Andre Rieu
Must get veg and potatoes done now.

I think a parrot landing on my head would give me the eebie jeebies Jane lol
Fortunately this parrot is confined to what is called the garden room. He's in a cage, but comes out at various times of the day. I'm not sure what kind of parrot he is Ann, but his name is Ollie. I've been told by the neighbours children that they will teach me how to care for him, before they go away. He apparently pulls out his feathers if he doesn't have a 'game time'. One of his favourites is knocking down towers of plastic bricks. What a way to spend an eve - building towers for a parrot to knock down lol

I have a glass parrot called Ollie Catie. lol Better to play building bricks with him and keep his feathers......you don't want to have to knit him a woolly vest before they come home. What colour is he? I was looking at 2 lovely black Rex rabbits in the garden centre today, fur like velvet. One was washing the other's ears.

Just happened to look at the Andre Rieu website and the latest news is that he is not well enough to do the UK and Australian tours and will be rescheduling for early in the new year. It may be why there has been a problem with the ticket release. What a shame if that is the case......will have to see if I get an e-mail about it. Still, better for him to get well.....he puts so much energy into his concerts....needs to be 100%. I bet Catie has heard of him, being a violinist herself.

Edit....just got the e-mail confirming it is postponed.

SILLY ME !!!! taking the postmans name in vein.
I went on Ebay this afternoon, and am bidding on FOUR books by the author Gilda O'Neill. The one who wrote "MY EAST END" that I enjoyed so much. I think she has written about nine books, will have to look for the others when I have read these., if I win them.

As a young boy at school, our local undertaker had a parrot in his hallway. We would go to his letterbox and open it and say "SILLY BUGGE#" and after a few times he would repeat it, I bet the undertaker couldn't believe his ears !!!! I was such an Angel.!!!!

When evacuated to Bacup, Lancs. Down the road from where we lived (if you can call it living) was a little monkey on a long chain. It would sit on the window sill and as you walked by, would jump on your head, and stay there till the chain became taunt, then would jump of and run back to his window.

Have been round to the allotments this afternoon with Ros and her friend to look at her little chicks. They are so funny. When "MUM" lays down they all scurry to get under her wings, then you see little heads popping out from all over the place. two kept sitting on her back, then falling off.We sat there for a good hour, having tea and watching them.

She was born and bred in Bethnal Green, where my dad was born. she still lives there with her husband and children. She has researched the history on the East End from before Roman times upto the present. The book I have read looks back over the century's, and has memories from old people of their lives, working and living there. A lot of the places I remember and have been to, so thats perhaps why I enjoyed the book so much.

Morning Jane and Mandy,

Just caught up on your posts of yesterday.

Mum decided she wanted her bed changed yesterday so off it all came and was put straight in the washing machine as the sun was shining.

Then gave her a good wash and clean clothes and she had toast for brekky and tea. At lunch time she had cheese, grapes, apple and two little sungold toms and then I went shopping very late. I was shattered when I got home and it took me ages to get all the gear away. Mum had a piece of strwbery cream sponge for tea and a hot choc later. Told me the sponge was too sweet then said the hot choc was smashing and she had had two big spoonfulls of sugar in it and it is already too sweet for me without sugar!! Oh well you can't please everybody all the time!!

Took two of my baby cockrels up the top to the rest f the bantams as mum chicken tried to go up the ash tree last night. Not a lot of room in the little arc for the six of them now. Going to try and get mum chicken and the three babes into the house with Henny Penny and Tiny Miny. Will do that a little later as it upset the apple cart catching the two boys. Have let them all out in the garden again now.

Now I have to go and get some petrol for the mowers as OH wants to get more grass cut.

I used to have a parrot called Captain. He was an African Grey. Talked the hind legs off a donkey. Calling the dog that did'nt like him and when she jumped up to his cage he would try and bite her nose. He is buried up the top wall under an apple tree in the bantam run.

Afternoon Everyone,

A quick break before those girls get back from school - then it's chaos lol

Mandy.... So sorry to hear about your little cockatiel. She was with you such a long time and I'm sure you will miss her. At least she had a long life.

Ann.... Ollie is an African Grey... Same as Mel's. My BIL's neighbour is originally from South Africa and always kept parrots.

Frank, your story about that parrot did make me laugh.

Well, it's been glorious here and as Mandy says.... more good weather on the way. Better make the most of it.

Jane

Jane Report 21 Sep 2010 16:44

I didn't realise that Cockatiels and Parrots lived so long.I'm sorry you have lost yours Mandy. It will seem strange without him.
I have an African Grey called Tweety buried in the garden. It belonged to our freind who got married in Dubai. It was at the time when she always seemed to be moving and she wanted to bury him somewhere where she would keep coming back to.We have her Hamster buried too lol

Afternoon one and all,

Have been up the big step ladder all morning treating the otherside of the conservatory.(Neighbours side) Then I decided to trim the Wisteria over the garage. Over reached and fell Ars# over head again. Fell onto my three bags of winter potatoes, broken a lot of storks off the plants.(Will the pots keep growing whithout the tops???)
I managed to crawl to the patio table and pull myself up. Ros was at Tesc# and no one else around, shock me up a bit, but I carried on, and got it finished.

Have managed to put a new wooden step into the garage also,It had rotted through and was letting the leaves blow under the door. Can't have that now my "OTHER HOME" is so tidy.Have just come in after watering all the pots and tubs. A few dry days and they are as dry as a bone.

I trust everybody has been enjoying the fine weather, tomorrow is expected to be hotter, then downhill for the weekend. BRITISH WEATHER never mind eh.

Jane

Jane Report 21 Sep 2010 17:52

I have watered all the Tomatoes and my neighbours as like you say they are all so dry again.......That looks like I have said I have watered my neighbours lol.
