Polly is 10 and the school is being a bit wishy washy. Trouble is the child who is the ringleader,of a group is on the surface a very charming nice little girl but underneath a millie minx! Polly is a very serious little girl unlike her sister (aged 7) who would probably tell a bully to ......off!! Polly is also a budding Gymnast and has won a place at Heathrow Gymn Club which means lot of competitions and practise, as well as ballet, again lots of practise and exams. She loves it all and really wants to suceed, and I think this could be part of the problem. Remember Tom Daly and all the problems he had at school. Laura (daughter) is VERY protective of her chicks! so we shall see!!!

Jane Report 24 Sep 2010 18:53

Good on young Polly.I hope the Bullies don't put her off.It sounds as though your Daughter will get results.I think it is great to see young children having an interest in something and really going for it.
Children can be so cruel can't they.It was the same when I was young (not me being bullied) but some who were high flyers.I think it will always happen but it is so important that the Head deals with bullying and not fob it off.Do let us know how it goes Elizabeth.

I am looking after my neigbours house and fishpond while they are away for a week .I couldn't find the bag of fish food this morning so went and bought some more.I went down a while ago and found the bag on the patio table.I had left it there when I watered the tomatoes lol Had to chuck it out as the rain had got in !!

Mel. I'm so sorry your Mum is so unwell,
Stay strong.
My brother Ralph had his computer connected to Broadband taday. He is over the moon.

Those operations he's had for cancer then the recent reversal have made his abdominal muscles weak.
He now has a hernia.
One thing after the other.

Jane

Jane Report 24 Sep 2010 19:43

David,I bet Ralph is chuffed to bits now with the broadband.Shame he has a Hernia .Maybe when he has all his strength back they can fix that for him.

It's been a right windy day here and now quite chilly too. OH has been wearing his new cosy slippers he got free yesterday. lol

So sorry to hear your mum is so poorly Mel. I still have this picture in my head of her sitting next to the window with the birds flying to and fro just outside it on your feeders. It sounds as if the pill the doctor has prescribed will help her to be more comfortable.

Oh Elizabeth....all that money.....what a shock for you. I think we are all capable of being caught napping at times, but how sick that someone could do things like this with no conscience. I hope they catch them.

It seems the school bullies pick on you if you are not good at things and equally pick on you if you are better than them at things. The school needs to nip it in the bud with Miss butter wouldn't melt and her buddies......zero tolerance! Polly should have an equal opportunity to learn without this stress and harrassment.

David Report 24 Sep 2010 19:58

Think he intends watching any live football, especially local games and reminise about the North Sea oil rigs.

He worked on them for several years.

Annx Report 24 Sep 2010 20:06

David, you and yours are not having the best of times what with 'knees', your mouth and Ralph's health troubles. Will the hernia have to be fixed or is it small enough to not cause a problem? I imagine broadband will lift his spirits no end......I loved it when I was first on line......so much to look at. lol

I collected my new specs today, similar to my old ones and still purple.....but everything looks crisper...... the sunglasses are brilliant, wrap round very well......my new 'shades'.

Tomorrow I am off the local Records Office to the Family History Day I booked. I am hoping to get some info on all the records they hold and what sort of things I can find out. I have to take a packed lunch and they provide the drinks!

Maureen, I think you have more stamina than me!! The tamping is when you level off the concrete with a board.....I only know because I used to help dad and then my first OH when we were doing a concrete garage base. I seem to have done a lot of labouring in my life. lol I loved it when we got a small concrete mixer......load it up and watch it....far better than all that shovelling!! It sounds like you are making a lot of progress.......good job you leave Alfie at home!!

Thank you all so much for your concern and good wishes. I'm sure Laura will sort out Polly's troubles. Because she wasn't keen for her mum to make a big fuss, as she thinks that it will just make it worse, and they will gun for her even more in breaktime and out of school, Laura and she have made a list of all the horrid things these girls have been saying and doing and they have given this to the Head for her to look at and ponder upon! e.g comment, Polly was mocked at by this kid that she was like a man because of course she is very strong!! she's as thin as a reed and wiry! As you say, kids are SO cruel, I feel so mad for her as she's such a dear girl I'd like to box their ears, but then of course I'd end up in Prison!!!! As for us, I'm glad to know that we're not the only ones! We were SO careful, as we had paperwork that assured us that we were insured through a reputable site (I don't know whether you are allowed to say who or not) in case of any problems, but of course all that was fraudulent. It's a clever scam, but as you say Pay Pal or Barclay Card. Well there you go, have to put it behind us, and move on. I do feel better having told you all, saves going on about to OH!!!!!

Hi All
Been helping daughter no 2 sort out something to wear for her friends wedding tomorrow, daughter has put on weight since coming home and she can not fit into any of her dresses, the one she had chosen to wear is too summery and if tomorrow is anything like today she will be freezing so she has been trying on clothes and finely chosen a dress that looks ok and has took a pair of my tights, my earings and my handbag, just as well we don't wear the same shoes and are not the same shoe size , I'm a size 2 she is a size 5

Sorry your mum is not so good Mel, sounds as if she is going through some real discomfort. hopefully the pill from the doctor will help.

Fiona I'm sure your daughter will look lovely tomorrow for her friends wedding. She is a lovely looking girl no matter what she wears.

Fiona Report 24 Sep 2010 21:51

I'ts no fun being size 2 , it's really hard work to get fashionable lady's shoes. I used to have to wear kids school shoes till I came up to Scotland, now I am only able to get shoes and only if I am lucky in Barr*tt*, Brant*no
and sometimes if I see a shoe I like they often have to order my size in.

Babysitting again tomorrow while Daughter no 1 & SIL go to collect daughters new car, OH had to take SIL home after dinner again so we didn't manage to get to do the weekly shopping tonight so we will have to do it tomorrow with Sofia in tow, should be loads of fun, she loves sitting in the trolly.
well I'm going to say goodnight now ,
Hope Mels mum is a little better. it's a worrying time when you have to look after elderly parents.

I had problems buying shoes for James when he got to size 12.That was a few years ago now.I remember having real problems trying to find somewhere that sold that size.I ended up going down to Cheltenham (where my Sister lives) to a shop that sold large sizes. Now it is far easier to get that size.

I am off to bed now to read the latest episode in Paul O'Grady's young life!!!!
My goodness has he had a life lol.Not the norm!! that's for sure .

It's Your home alone lover again !!!!
All nice and quite at home, No T.V. on. Ros likes noise around her even if she's on her own.I am quite happy with my own company.

My DIL has size 2 shoes and I bet she has 100 pairs. All in original box's stacked up the side of the waldrobe with all labels facing out, most cost £80/100 plus, More business suits than "BURTON#" She shops every Sat. in Milton Keynes. and buys something most weeks.

My elder sister wore size 8 shoes as a child. My dad always said buy two pairs of any size throw away the shoes and let her wear the BOX'S It was his joke. Good old Dad.

Lewis is 12 today. We rang him first thing, and Ros asked if he liked his Birthday cake (WE always buy him one) she said sorry there were no candles, he said "It's the thought that counts" Bless him. He loved the Wii games we bought him and was playing with his Dad as we spoke.

Mel, Do hope Mum is a little improved today, have been thinking of you.

I suppose all you girls are out getting the weekend shopping (DO you still do that) Mum always did. Butchers, Greengrocers, Bakers, I should say she ordered it during the week and I WENT on saturday to collect. Didn't have room to store things then and no fridge/freezer. Only the pantry with the meat safe.

What a wonderful morning we have here, Wall to wall sunshine, but windy and cold. Might do the lawns later, while she's out. Otherwise it will be "Leave them till next week" and the forcast isn't good, raid for next 4 days.

Calie, I can't remember trhe last time I had a dance, if I tried it now, I know I would be on my BUM. Hope you enjoyed yourself, and that the children are O.K.

Had two more books turn up this morning. One signed my the Author, the same one Gilda O'Neill, both about the East End. What do they say "You can take the boy out of the East End, but you can't take the East End out of the boy"

Going for a shower and shave, see you later.

Jane Report 25 Sep 2010 11:23

Morning my luver lol
I am like Ros and have to have either the TV or radio on just for background noise. The only time I will turn them off is if I have a sit down for a read.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LEWIS.Almost a teenager !

Well I feel all nice and clean now.A cup of coffee and then out to get some nice bread for lunch.

Happy Birthday Lewis. Hope you have a wonderful day :)

Mel.... My thoughts are with you and your mum. I hope the pill has helped and she's feeling a bit brighter today.

Elizabeth.... My thoughts are with you too, as you seem to have had more than your fair share of troubles of late. I hope all problems are resolved soon.

Frank... You would have enjoyed the dance.... Lots of ladies of all ages lol Also a lot of chaps who had been dragged there lol
Jane... We had a lovely time thank you. Lots of different kinds of dances to join in with. None of us were any good - but it was a lot of fun. Lots of money was raised too.

I'm home with Mark, whilst OH and BIL have gone off to play squash. The girls are next door making gingerbread men. Andrea has so much patience with young children - it's quite heartwarming to see. Apparently they are going to make some men to eat and some to decorate. The girls were so excited lol

Hope Ann makes some exciting discoveries in her research today. I've now joined Ancestry and loving it lol. Not that I get much time at the moment - 10 mins here and there. One of my lines is a disgrace - lots of scandals lol.
