Morning Everyone.
Well it missed us again I think.I know we had some rain in the night ,but nothing like I thought we would have had.Slept with the window open to,and I didn't hear anything.
Frank ,did you get it bad over with you?I thought it felt fresher when I took Chester out just now,but walking back in the house the sweat is dripping off me ,so am cooling off again by the fan lol

Wrong again, these forcasters with all the technology, still can't predict the following days weather. We had a drop of rain but nothing like they said.

This Beryl, is some sort of "nutter", in the nicest way. I would never dream of taking back popcorn, or anything else that is open. It's a wonder they accepted the return. The cheek of some people. It goes to show if you don't ask you don't get.

Morning Jane and all,

You lot have had a busy weekend with all your traumers etc.

Beryl the Peril has been up to her tricks again I see Sheila!!!!

Jane what an awful shock for Janice and after that nasty experience with her holiday too. I really feel for her. At least she has the other dogs still but I am sure she will miss poor Molly.

We had a nice day yesterday untill about 8. 20 when I went and shut the chickens in. Then it poured with rain most of the night. Today it is sunny then cloudy and dull.

Well another Donkey Day today. At least I can do what I like when I am out of the house on my own!! That bit I do enjoy.

Catie what a lovely gift!!! It just shows you there are still some lovely people in this world.

OH has now decided that the filter he bought for the new pond is not big enough!!! More money I suppose......................................

I did warn you, Mandy. We haven't had it here. and it's just overcast at the moment.

Mel, I had the sAME TROUBLE WITH PUMP. Difficult to work out the size you need. Tell OH to do a "BERYL"

Morning all,

I popped out to the supermarket this morning and on my return found the elderly chap from next door wandering up and down his garden path. I jumped out the car and realised that he was soaked to the skin and also in tears. To cut a long story short, his wife had gone off to the shops and he had forgotten she had gone. He went out the front door to see if she was in the front garden and unfortunately shut the door. Then the rain came down and poor chap got soaked. I took him inside my house and a few minutes later, his wife returned. Quietly, she said that her husband had become very forgetful and also very tearful. Her sons had wondered if it was the early stages of dementia, but that she didn't want to worry her doctor. This is the couple who we help and I felt very sad for the lady and also her husband. I didn't want to interfere, but said that I thought it might be worth mentioning it to the doctor. Poor souls. I've noticed that some days he seems quite 'with it' and other days not so good.

Sheila, I like Clarice Cliff pottery and as you say - it can be quite valuable.

Mel, I suppose living in the country, you can't shop at the supermarket easily and so shopping becomes a bit of a nightmare. We are lucky having a supermarket a few mins away - would rather be in the country though.

Oh well, better make tracks - off to lunch with a friend now.

Catie I go 13 miles to Bideford to do my shopping. It's quite a nice ride really.

Jane Report 23 Aug 2010 14:07

Oh Catie, the poor man.I think maybe he wife knows he has dementia but doesn't want to admit it.I remember when my sister and I went to stay with mum,we went shopping and Mum knew. But when we got back she was in a right old state as she didn't know where we were.It would be a good idea for the lady to leave a big note for her OH when she goes out ,just saying where she has gone.I can save a fair bit of distress sometimes.

It is now spitting .(what a funny expression)

Hi All, Computer is okay for the moment haven't had it on for a couple of days and it seems to have righted itself.
What a lot of interesting threads I've been reading, some funny, that would be Sheila's, and some really sad poor Molly, do they have to have her put down, can they not see if there was a cause for her attack Jane.
I always put more seed than necessary Frank, I remember the litle saying:
One for the rock
one for the crow
one to die
and one to grow
Think I heard that in Gardener's World, with Alan Titchmarsh. I loved your Poem Mel, gave me goose bumps, but have to say my favourite is Sheila's Goldilocks.

I remember seeing that W.D.Y.T.Y.A with Mathew Pinsent, can't spell his name either. Remember he ended up being related to Catherine Howerd, one of Henry VIII's wives.

Afternoon All,

Well we had a DELUGE of rain through the night and the hole where the old bog pond was was full of water this morning. Everywhere is sodden now.

What a shame about Molly. I wonder what happened to cause her to change like that. As you say Mel, poor Janice is not having a good time lately.

Beryl is a bit of a card isn't she. I would have cringed at her taking popcorn back!!

Got OH to help with a blitz on the cleaning this morning. He says we need a new hoover!!! Typical, if I had said that he would have said the old one was ok!!! It's those tumbletwist carpets.....seem to hang on to the fluff. He was in his short pj bottoms and I in my nightie with a feather duster lol when a voice hollered 'hello, anyone there?' Yikes.....the window cleaner. We both scarpered to throw some clothes on, just like the generation game against the clock. Pheeuw.....I keep forgetting we have a window cleaner now. lol

OH has been to the dentist......he hates injections and had a filling,a clean an extraction and they extracted another but couldn't get all the root out and now he will have to go to hospital to have that removed. Not surprising he was feeling a bit sorry for himself when he got home!! He couldn't even swallow with all the numbness. He had a lie down for a while and then had some soup and has perked up a lot now. He is off to Worcester soon to watch footie and is giving 2 people a lift so was glad he didn't have to let anyone down.

Your poor neighbour Catie. Good that you were there and able to take him in and calm him down a bit. The big note sounds a very good idea Jane.

Jane Report 23 Aug 2010 17:03

Maureen ,Janice had to have Molly put down yesterday. The vet said that they never be able to trust her again,as once they have attacked like that it would likely happen again.Even to rehome her would be a problem.

We have had a huge thunderstorm with lightening, and lots of rain.I was chatting to a friend on the phone but had to cut it short as Chester was making such a racket we couldn't hear each other speak lol.
Our friend who married in Dubai has emailed the photos of the wedding for us to look through and choose any we like. There are only 1,139 to view !!!!!!!!!!.I think it will take some time to go through all that lot lol

Ann,I hope OH's mouth is alright now.Bet he is not looking forward to the hospital !

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 23 Aug 2010 18:27

We've had some more heavy rain and one or two rumbles of thunder ,the rain has lifted some manhole covers down the road !!

Ann, your poor hubby ,his mouth is going to be sore if they've poked about trying to get a root out ,wouldn't want to be him having to go to the hospital .

My goodness Jane it will take forever to decide which photo's to pick from that amount ,time you get to the last ones ,you'll have forgotten the first ones LOL

Jane

Jane Report 23 Aug 2010 18:39

Lovely blue skies here now!!.(for now).At least I don't have to water the garden!!

Annx Report 23 Aug 2010 18:55

No he's not looking forward to it Jane! He was supposed to have his bridge fixed about 2 years ago, but his diary was always full for months ahead so it was difficult. Maybe the root would have come out with the tooth okay if he had gone sooner.

FIL was telling us about his Mecc*no set yesterday (still has most of it)and how the old set was better than some modern additions he got which were painted green instead of the original silver. OH asked him how modern were the modern additions. Ohh I had them in about 1939 he said!!!! Only 71 years ago then. lol

We've been watching the Home Movies series about people's old movie films OH asked him what he had got on film as he knew he had an old 9.5 mm cinecamera when he was a little boy. Apparently they have film of their wedding in 1950......how posh must that have been then! They had never told OH before though and he was amazed. We have asked them to dig out the film and projector and show us.

MillymollyAmanda

MillymollyAmanda Report 23 Aug 2010 19:06

Ann, you need to get that film put on a Disc ,if the projector packs up you won't be able to see it !! ,you must be able to have it done somewhere .

We had a little bit of our wedding taken by one of mum and dads neighbours on a Cinecamera and we had that put on to tape years ago now ,we really should have it put on Disc as tapes are out of fashion now .

Hubby had lots of Mecc*no when he was a boy ( and thats a long time ago LOL) he gave it all away to his Nephews !!!
